Located in the scenic Doon Valley, near Mussoorie in northern
India, which is famous for its hill resorts, boarding schools
and the Indian Military Academy, Dekyiling Tibetan School
made a humble beginning in tents as classrooms on July 1st
1982. A few months later, the school moved to a building funded
by aid organizations under coordination from the Department
of Home under the CTA, Dharamsala.
The DoE took over the school in August 1984. Today, it is
a full-fledged day school from kindergarten to grade VIII
level with 308 students on roll and 19 full time staff members.
Over the years, the school has seen rapid growth in terms
of all round academic development.
On the co-curricular front, it has an excellent record having
regularly bagged a large number of trophies in the numerous
inter-departmental school meets arranged annually. Since January
last, the school has a brand new tow-story building, which
has greatly improved the facilities available to the students.
Amount the priorities was the introduction of computer science
education since October 1999. The school has also added a
special resource section for its teachers as well. The assistance
and support received from numerous sponsors and organizations
have made lasting contribution to the school's all round development.
