Central School for Tibetans, TenzingaonThe Central School for Tibetans, Tenzingaon was established in 1972 in a temporary shed at Camp No.2 in Tenzingaon Tibetan settlement. Due to increasing student strength, a new permanent building was constructed during 1977-78 on land donated by the settlement measuring 15040 square meters.

Geographically, Tenzingaon is located in West Kameng district about 200 km from Tezpur city in the Indian State of Arunachal Pradesh. It is a hilly region with all the bounties of nature surrounded by beautiful snow clad mountains with thick forests all around. This school is managed by the Central Tibetan Schools Administration, New Delhi under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. CST Tenzingaon is a day school having classes from Pre-Primary to Class VIII. It follows the CBSE curriculum.

The school has a beautiful campus with surrounding boundary wall and one main entrance gate from the north side. It has a newly constructed basketball court cum assembly ground in front of the main school building and a volleyball court behind the school office. It has three main blocks consisting of middle section, primary section, resource center, library, computer lab, science lab and drawing room. The school has a spacious multi-purpose hall within the school premises donated by the DOE, Dharamsala. Adjacent to the school, there is a hostel for girls and boys managed by the settlement office. The 148 hostel students who hail from the nearby town of Tawang and other areas of the district attend the school.

In the academic field, the Common Annual Examination results of classes V & VIII in the year 2003 was 95.2% and 90% respectively and over all pass percentage of the entire school was 95%. The school took part in the CTSA East Zone Cultural Meet at Kalimpong from 14 to 15 July 2004 and bagged 2nd position in Hindi group song. Besides, the school cultural troupe was declared winner at the inter-school cultural competition held during Indian Independence Day celebrations at Shergaon this year.

The school has a total strength of 380 students including pre-primary sections at Tenzingaon and Bomdila. The school has a sanctioned post of 22 teachers and 3 office staff. Mr. Tsering Chokyap is the present headmaster of the school.
